The short version

  • As of October 29, 2026, NordVPN and Surfshark both have Black Friday pricing live on their official pricing pages.
  • NordVPN Complete is $3.99/mo ($107.73 for the first 27 months), then renews at $219.48 a year.
  • Surfshark One is priced the same as Starter: $2.49/mo ($67.23 for 27 months). Surfshark doesn't print the renewal price on its pricing page.
  • The big percentages are measured against renewal or month-to-month rates, not against last month's sale price.
  • Black Friday is November 27 and Cyber Monday is November 30. Check back that week before you buy a multi-year plan.

Yes, Black Friday VPN pricing is already live. As of October 29, 2026, NordVPN's pricing page is running what it calls its Black Friday sale (up to 78% off plus 3 extra months on the 2-year plan), and Surfshark has a Black Friday label on its One bundle, which currently costs the same as its basic Starter plan. Neither company has published an end date.

That's the good news. The less fun part: every one of these deals is an introductory price. After the first term, you pay the renewal rate, and that number is where the real cost lives. This guide covers both.

NordVPN's Black Friday sale

NordVPN sells three tiers: Basic, Complete, and Prime. All three cover 10 devices at once and come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. The Black Friday headline, "78% off + 3 extra months," applies to the 2-year Complete plan. Basic and Prime show smaller percentages on the same page (69% and 71%).

The 1-year plans also get 3 bonus months: Basic is $74.85, Complete $89.85, and Prime $134.85 for the first 15 months. Month-to-month plans aren't discounted at all ($14.99, $19.99, and $29.99).

Which tier is the deal?

The gap between Basic and Complete is only $13.50 over 27 months, which is why NordVPN pushes Complete. Complete adds a desktop ad and tracker blocker, the desktop antivirus, a password manager, 1 TB of encrypted cloud storage, and wider dark web monitoring. If you'd use even the password manager, Complete is the better value at intro pricing.

The catch is renewal. Complete renews at $219.48 a year versus $139.08 for Basic. That $80 yearly gap is what you're really choosing between once the 27 months are up. We break down every tier in our NordVPN vs Surfshark comparison.

Surfshark's Black Friday deal

Surfshark's current offer is simple: its mid-tier One bundle costs the same as Starter, $2.49 a month on the 24-month plan plus 3 extra months, or $67.23 up front. One adds antivirus, Surfshark Alert (breach monitoring), and scam protection on top of the VPN. All Surfshark plans allow unlimited devices and carry a 30-day money-back guarantee.

TechRadar reported on October 12 that this early sale lowered One from $2.79 to $2.49 a month on the 27-month term, and from $3.59 to $2.99 a month on the 15-month term. Monthly subscribers got no discount.

The renewal price isn't on the pricing page

Surfshark's terms say plans renew automatically at the full, non-introductory rate, and that it emails a reminder 30 days before renewal (except on 1-month plans). The terms also say displayed renewal prices may be subject to A/B testing. On the day we checked, the renewal price table on that terms page was empty, so we can't print a confirmed renewal figure. Look in your account dashboard or the checkout summary before you pay, and see our renewal price tracker for context.

How the "up to 78% off" math works

A Black Friday percentage is only as honest as the price it's compared against. NordVPN's deals page explains its footnote: savings compare the intro monthly price, including bonus months, with the monthly price of the annual renewal.

You can check it yourself. Complete renews at $219.48 a year, which is $18.29 a month. The intro price is $3.99. That's about 78% less, which matches the banner. So the discount is real, but it's a discount off the renewal rate, not off what Nord charged new customers in September.

Surfshark's struck-through "old price" works differently. The $538.65 shown for One equals 27 months at $19.95, which matches the month-to-month rate third-party trackers report. Very few people pay month-to-month for 27 months, so that comparison makes the discount look bigger than it feels.

The useful comparison

Ignore the percentage. Compare the dollar amount you pay today with the dollar amount you'd pay at renewal, then decide whether you'll cancel, renew, or switch when the term ends.

What the deals cost over three years

Here's what NordVPN costs if you buy the 2-year Black Friday plan and then let it renew once. This uses the official prices above; Surfshark is left out because its renewal price isn't published on the pricing page.

NordVPN planFirst 27 monthsPlus 1 renewal yearTotal for 39 monthsAverage per month
Basic$94.23$139.08$233.31about $5.98
Complete$107.73$219.48$327.21about $8.39
Prime$188.73$296.28$485.01about $12.44

Even with a full-price renewal year, those averages still beat month-to-month pricing by a wide margin. The deal only goes bad if you forget about it for years. Our guide to the Black Friday renewal trap covers how to avoid that.

Will prices drop again on Black Friday itself?

We don't know, and nobody outside these companies does. Black Friday 2026 falls on November 27 and Cyber Monday on November 30. Early sales sometimes hold steady through those dates and sometimes change, and both companies reserve the right to change prices without notice.

Here is what we'd do:

  • If you need a VPN now, the current prices are already at Black Friday levels. The 30-day money-back guarantee gives you a cushion.
  • If you can wait, check again the week of November 23 and on Cyber Monday. We'll update this page if either provider announces new pricing.
  • If the price drops after you buy, ask support whether they'll match it. Neither company promises price matching, so don't count on it.

Deals to be careful with

Black Friday brings out a lot of VPN "deals" that aren't sold by the VPN company. A few to watch for:

  • Cheap keys from marketplace sellers. NordVPN's help center says to use activation codes only from official or authorized retailers, and warns that cracked versions and key generators often carry malware or adware. A code that has already been used won't work, and you may have no one to complain to.
  • Coupon codes that don't stack. NordVPN's deals page says it doesn't support stacking multiple discounts, and Surfshark's help center says only one coupon code can be used at a time. A coupon site promising "extra" savings on top of the sale usually can't deliver.
  • App store subscriptions. Buying through Apple or Google can be convenient, but refunds then follow the store's rules, not the VPN company's 30-day guarantee.

Buying directly from the provider's site is the simplest way to get the advertised price and the refund window.

How to judge any VPN Black Friday deal

  1. Find the up-front total. The monthly figure is marketing. The number that hits your card is the 27-month or 15-month total.
  2. Find the renewal price. NordVPN lists it on the plan card. If a provider hides it, ask support or check the checkout summary before paying.
  3. Count your devices. NordVPN covers 10 at once; Surfshark doesn't limit devices. A family with lots of phones, laptops, and TVs might care.
  4. Price only the extras you'll use. Antivirus, password managers, and identity insurance are nice, but they're why renewal prices climb.
  5. Set a reminder. Put the renewal date in your calendar now, about a month before the term ends.
  6. Know the refund window. Both offer 30 days on a first purchase. NordVPN's deals page says refunds cover the initial subscription, not renewals. Here's how to cancel and get a refund if you change your mind.

Which deal fits you

Cheapest VPN that covers every device: Surfshark One at $67.23 for 27 months. You get the VPN plus antivirus and breach alerts for the same price as Starter.

Best all-in-one value from Nord: NordVPN Complete at $107.73. The password manager and cloud storage make up for the $13.50 premium over Basic, at least for the first term.

Want identity theft insurance: NordVPN Prime or Surfshark One+ both include coverage. Read the fine print first; we compare them in our post on whether security bundles are worth it.

Just want a VPN, no extras: NordVPN Basic or Surfshark Starter. Lower renewal prices make them the safest choice if you tend to let subscriptions run.

Is the NordVPN Black Friday 2026 deal live yet?

Yes. On October 29, 2026, NordVPN's pricing page was already advertising its Black Friday sale: up to 78% off the 2-year plan plus 3 extra months. No end date was listed.

Does Surfshark's Black Friday deal include Surfshark One?

Yes. Surfshark One is priced the same as Starter during the current sale, $2.49 a month on the 24-month plan plus 3 bonus months, or $67.23 up front.

Can I get the Black Friday price again when my plan renews?

Not automatically. Both companies renew at their standard rate. Some people cancel before renewal and sign up again as new customers, but providers don't promise new-customer pricing to returning users.

Are month-to-month VPN plans discounted for Black Friday?

Not at NordVPN or Surfshark right now. NordVPN's monthly plans show 0% savings, and TechRadar reported Surfshark's monthly plan wasn't part of its early sale.

Is the 30-day money-back guarantee valid on Black Friday purchases?

Both NordVPN and Surfshark list a 30-day money-back guarantee on every plan in the current sale. Purchases made through Apple's or Google's app stores follow the store's refund rules instead.
